Beauty and the Beast Concept Art by Karl Simon

In light of the recent Blockbuster adaptation of The Beauty and the Beast i though to bring an unique interpretation of the classic storybook by Karl Simon.

A personal favorite of mine must be the Castle and grounds covered by moonlight, it was an exquisite piece created with a cold palette with a single strong warm focus point slightly off the middle of the composition. This one is the first point that draws the attention of the on looker and there the viewer softly roams in circles all over the composition slowly to come back to the pint of origin on the illuminated windows of the castle.

Without further do check the images below and the link here for the rest of the artwork.

Miyazaki & Ghibli's next two projects

Ghibli's next 2 Masterpieces just got announced!!!

Of course i am a HUGE fan!

If you like Miyazaki and his creations

stay tuned for more updates!

#1- Kaguyahime-Monogatari

Web Page

Theme: "A princess's crime and punishment."

Synopsis: The story is the same as the original. However, the original does not describe Kaguya-hime's feelings, it just describes what happens to her. This film carefully draws her feelings out one by one.

Release Date: Summer 2013

Executive Producer: Seiichiro Ujiie (passed away on March 28, 2011 at the age of 84)

Toshio Suzuki mentioned that he would like to credit Ujiie as Chief Production Officer, but the official website poster credits Ujiie as Executive Producer

More from Suzuki on Ujiie: There was a thing Ujiie-san wants to do. It was Takahata-san's new film. He said, "I want to see his film by all means one more before I die." In this way preparations for Kaguya-hime began. Four or five years ago Ujiie-san seemed to say it this way in an officers' meeting, "this is not a business that I am concerned with directly because I leave my officiation to an operating officer. But there is the only exception, it's Takataha's film. I said this beforehand but this film is not profitable. But I have him make a good film because I don't mind a loss." (at the 19:45 mark) "I want to do something before I die." If Ujiie did not think this way, Kaguya-hime would not have been born.

#2- Kazetachinu

Web link

Synopsis: The story begins with a 10 year old Jiro Horikoshi. He longs for the sky and aims to be a pilot. When he becomes an adult and begins working on aircraft times of war have come. The thing which he should design was a fighter for a warship...

The name of the girl painting a picture on the teaser poster is Naoko. Miyazaki is using the name of the heroine of Tastuo Hori's novel "Naoko".
Release Date: Summer 2013
Director, Storyboards: Hayao Miyazaki
Original: Hayao Miyazaki's manga "Kaze Tachinu" - 9 chapters in Model Graphix magazine (April to September 2010, November 2010 to January 2011)

06 will always be one of the favorite moments of my life, that year the world of gaming gave me the best absolute present of all, Gears was borne, and in a rainbow of gore and violence a beautiful play was seen, we fought in a dying world that clung to his humanity by the treads of a few men’s and woman’s that swore to fight their own nightmares every day while trying to keep very real monster at bay

So i thank you Cliffy B, thank u for all the nights without sleep, for the interminable hours you put into your game, for the people you had to swallow to make gears happen, for the disappointments  and capitulations, but mostly for wanting to share your dream with us and allowing it to make it our own.

i just finished seeing the VGA trailer of Judgment and as i watched those 20 something seconds over and over again, i see, in every frame that gears is no more.  That, is not the story or the characters i love, they look plain, like someone forgot to render them okay, lost is the sorrow so deep in their soul you can’t help but seeing it shining thru their eyes every time they see  the holocaust that their lives had become, lost, is their deep pain they feel seeing their world brought to their knees by an enemy they don’t understand or know how to fight, lost is they destroyed beauty of a place it could only exist in the most grandiose dream, for it has never existed a most beautiful place than Sera.

Is a sad sad day, and i hope that some way and somehow you’d be able to make it happen again, i understand that sometimes one has to stand for what ones believe and in art as in war some fights are better won by losing.

So, even if it Gears never happens again the way you imagined, or at least we the fans never get to see it, please remember that all around the world you touched the hearts of millions of people, and that we go with you, wherever you go,

Thank you Brother.. it has been a hell of a ride.
